Neon Accents

Neon accents are the easiest way to brighten up any room or outfit. Just one piece makes a big difference ....

Pink is still my favorite color .... and look at that gorgeous floor!

Blue, pink, and yellow.

Highlighter yellow is a bit much, but I like the idea.

Tiniest details make the biggest difference ....

Neon accents on shoes.

Beige and pink.

White walls and colorful doors.

These pink pieces brighten up this dark room.

Tiny neon accent to change up the classic black and white scheme.

How To: Hang A Gallery/Home Wall

This seems to be a never-ending struggle for me and, I'm sure, many others. I always have a bunch of photographs, sketches, paintings, etc. I want to hang on a wall but how do I do it in a cohesive, uncluttered way? Thankfully The Glitter Guide is here to help! Love their suggestions here and below.

"We love the idea of creating a gallery wall in the home, whether it be in a living room, bedroom, or even an office space. We turned to interior designer Muffie Faith, whose store was featured on Glitter Guide earlier this week, for some expert tips on hanging a collection of frames!

Pay Attention to Size: If I’m doing a mix of sizes, I start with the largest piece first and work out. One thing that people always seem to do is put too much space between photographs and sketches. Think of it as a puzzle, but keep in mind that larger, bolder pieces need “breathing room” to emphasize the dramatic effect created by the art. Frames need to be similar — not necessarily in texture, but in color. You wouldn’t necessarily mix solid golds and silvers, but some pieces may have tiny flecks of each that allow you to make a bridge between both hues.
Practice First: For a large group or gallery, it’s often best to start by practicing your layout on the floor before you begin to mess with the walls. Don’t try to be exact or you’ll drive yourself nuts! In many cases, a tape measure will be your best friend to achieve consistency.
Change it Up: As the mood strikes to change your artwork, remember: putty fills a hole in the wall. Don't be afraid to make a mistake!"

Flatware DIY

I adore this painted flatware! Have extra or old forks, knives, or spoons? Spray paint them interesting colors to add an alternative twist. Maybe not dishwasher safe, but definitely worth the extra effort.

Beach House Getaway

Had a lovely day at the beach in Connecticut today after meeting up with an old high school friend, Mackenzie Horan, of Design Darling. It is so nice to be able to escape the city to celebrate the last real summer weekend. Sitting on the beach looking at the waterfront home reminded me of this beach house in Better Homes & Gardens. Lots of blue hues and beach themes ....

{ Victorian-style headboard in the bedroom }

{ beach-themed accents }

{ different kinds of blue }

{ great outdoor seating area for entertaining and relaxing }

{ traditional beach cottage elements }

{ is there a better spot for a summer evening dinner than beachfront? }

Stormy Weather

Hope that everyone on the East Coast is getting through the hurricane alright. I got on one of the last trains back to NYC from Connecticut before the MTA shut down. Once back, we stood in line for an hour and ten minutes at the grocery store! Chaos! Today everything is still closed and shutdown, but things don't seem too bad in Manhattan. We decided to bunker up and cook some food, read, and watch movies. Hope you are all doing the same!

Moroccan Home

Elle Decor is featured this beautiful home on their website yesterday. The home near Marrakech belongs to fashion designer Liza Bruce and artist Nicholas Alvis Vega. Love all the colors and artifacts from around the world. The pool doesn't look bad either ....

A Girl's Dream ....

What makes a closet amazing? Organization? Color coding? Details? Size? I think the above photographs show that it's different for everyone. Personally, I'm a fan of the details (photographs, notes, and hidden details in closets for inspiration and reminding) and organization. What does an amazing closet mean to you?
