Back to Amsterdam

I just got back to Amsterdam from Greece after a wonderful trip. The weather was perfect and the wind was awesome for sailing. Today I am trying to get everything in order again, so here is just a quick collage of the hundreds of photos I took. As soon as I get a chance I will share some of the beautiful details of Greece's waters and islands.

A difficult day of packing and a long flight later, I have arrived back home in Amsterdam. I must say I wish I was looking as glamorous as this lovely lady coming out of the plane 5:00 a.m. NY time. Tomorrow we leave for Greece where we will spend a night in Athens and then find our way to Paros (via multiple boats) to go sailing. I will be back in a week or so with many pictures and i'm sure a lot of new inspiration to share. Have a great week!

Spotlight: Bathrooms

From modern to rustic and from playful to elegant, I love bathrooms. The bathroom, to me, is the showcase of design and aesthetic. A restaurant or home could be beautiful, but if the bathroom is dull or plain it goes down quite a few spots in my book. It is (typically) a small space where personal design tastes can let loose. When I was young my mother had a friend whose house was always simple and orderly. However, her small hallway bathroom was bright blue (including the ceiling!) with ivy plants, flowers, and fairy statues everywhere you looked. It was so out of tune with the rest of the house, but it was great .... a small escape for your fantasies. Above are some very diverse (but very beautiful) inspirations for bathrooms.

East Coast

I'm loving this inspiration board from Snippet & Ink. Although it's a wedding board it reminds me of any type of east coast summer party .... perhaps Nantucket or the Hamptons? Nautical blue and white, seashells, crab, and sailboats? Count me in!

Dream Summer Trip

As much as I adore NY summer nights, most days make me yearn to get out of the hot, busy city. Cocoa Island in the Maldives looks like a tropical fairytale.
